The widget does a lot more now: comfort for your eyes and captions, study tools, your library, looks and zoom, voices and rooms, GIFs and clips, automatic playback, and watch parties.

The widget does a lot more now: comfort for your eyes and captions, study tools, your library, looks and zoom, voices and rooms, GIFs and clips, automatic playback, and watch parties. It also carries 16.1.0 and 16.2.0.

New: comfort for your eyes and captions. Comfort (View tab) warms the picture, makes colors clearer, restyles a site's own captions and adds a reading guide. It needs no account and sends nothing.

New: study tools beside the video. A Study timer runs focus rounds and breaks. On videos with captions, "Show transcript" lists them beside it and "Make chapters with AI" turns them into chapters for 1 AI run.

New: your library from the video. Connected, the Tools tab adds "Quiz at this moment", "Save a word", "Diary entry", "Learning path", "Collection" and "Search your library". Wiktionary looks up a saved word. It gets only the word.

New: looks, effects and zoom. Filters → "Looks & overlays" adds 20 color grades, four art looks, "Sharpen" and "Blur a region". "Zoom & fit" (View tab) needs no account. Some sites block filters on protected video.

New: voices and rooms that keep the speed. The Audio tab adds balance, five voices, four rooms, "Even loudness" and a limiter. They skip protected video.

New: GIFs and clips made on your device. Tools → "Capture & export" makes GIFs, clips, time-lapses, screenshot bursts and contact sheets, and "Annotate" marks screenshots. They skip protected video.

New: playback that runs on its own. Playback → "Automation" blocks autoplay, keeps a per-site speed, ramps speed and sets reminders, and Settings adds "Watch limits" and "One video at a time".

New: share & watch together. "Share this moment" gives a link and QR code. Watch together keeps play, pause, seeking and speed in step for up to 20 people. Everyone needs a connected account.

Fixed: auto-skip presses the skip buttons. The Settings auto-skip switches did nothing; now they press Netflix's and Prime Video's own Skip Intro, Skip Recap and next-episode buttons after your 0–2 s delay. They need a connected account.

Fixed: Netflix runs its own controls. Before, Netflix pages ran the ones for X.

Improved: a Docs link. Settings and the popup link the docs site.

Fixed: your language at once. Spanish, French and German screens show their language from the start.

You can now say a note instead of typing it, every AI run has a level, and a new Plans page shows what each plan gives.

You can now say a note instead of typing it: on a video in the extension, and on the website and in the Android app, where Speak also fills flashcards, a report or a feature request. Every AI run now has a level, Spark, Pulse or Surge, and a new Plans page shows what each plan gives.

New: Speak a note on a video. On the widget's Tools tab, press "Speak a note", record up to 2 minutes, then check the note and save it. It's pinned where the video was when you started. The first time, a tab opens so you can allow the microphone once. You can switch Speak off in Settings → AI Features.

New: Speak on the website and in the Android app. Press Speak on Notes, Flashcards, Contact or Feature requests and say it instead of typing. You see what was heard and what it became. You decide what is kept. The Android app asks for the microphone only when you first press record.

New: AI levels: Spark, Pulse and Surge. Every AI run now has a level. It sets how much reasoning goes into the run, and your plan decides the level you get. The Plans page lists the level each plan gets, and the popup's AI Video Summary card and Settings on the website show your level and today's runs.

New: a Plans page. The new Plans page lists Free, Pro and Team, paid monthly or yearly. Every feature is on every plan, and Pro and Team raise the daily AI runs and the AI level. Choosing a plan opens the Contact page, and the Video Controls Plus team sets it up.

Improved: an AI pause says until when. On Free, when AI rests for a while, the card says "AI is resting until …" with the time. Your runs are untouched. Everything else works as usual. On Pro and Team, AI keeps working all day.

Improved: recordings are deleted within 24 hours. A Speak recording, its transcripts and the proposal are deleted within 24 hours, or at once when you press Discard. A recording that becomes a proposal uses 1 AI run, and a silent recording or a failed upload uses none. The Privacy Policy has the details.

Your account now lives on our website, and the extension connects to it on Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Everyone connects once after this update.

Your account now lives on our website, and the extension connects to it on Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Everyone connects once after this update. An account that existed before 16.0.0 opens empty until we finish moving the old cloud data, which follows this release. Nothing saved in your browser is affected.

New: connect the extension to your account. There is no sign-in inside the extension any more. Press Connect to your account, and a tab opens on vcpeai.aoneahsan.com. Sign in there with Google, check that the page and the extension show the same short code, and press Connect this browser. The code lasts 10 minutes. You do this once in each browser, and Sign out in the extension disconnects that browser only.

New: accounts on Firefox. The same steps work on Firefox, where there was no working sign-in before.

New: one switch for usage analytics. Settings → Privacy & Data has a Usage analytics switch. It is on by default, and it works with or without an account. Switch it off and the extension stops sending usage events, stops counting which sites, features and speeds you use, and stops the location lookup. Crash reports to Sentry have their own switch beside it, Third-Party Error Tracking.

Improved: Delete All Data deletes the account. In 15.3.0 the button removed your stored files, your profile, your synced settings and your usage data, and it left your notes, your watch-later items and the account itself. It now deletes the account, the files stored under it and everything saved under it.

Improved: the shared AI allowance is counted on our server. A connected account gets 3 runs a day on our key. With your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, or a local model, there is no limit from us and you do not need an account. The extension also no longer asks your browser for the
identity
permission.

Fixed: removing a synced watch-later item. In 15.3.0, removing a video from watch later did not remove it from your account once it had synced. Removing a video, or moving it up or down the list, now works on synced items.

Netflix and LinkedIn menu actions now run at once, and Settings shows only the switches and shortcuts that do something.

Netflix and LinkedIn menu actions now run at once, and Settings shows only the switches and shortcuts that do something. The website and the store descriptions were corrected to list only what the extension does today.

Improved: Netflix and LinkedIn actions run straight away. Opening a panel, starting a timer, exporting or downloading from the widget or the right-click menu now happens immediately. Before, most of these only switched the feature on and asked you to reload the page. On/off switches still apply after a reload.

Fixed: four LinkedIn tools that did nothing. Profile Backup, Message Export, Job Tracker and Job Alerts had a switch and a menu item and never ran. Each now performs its action from the menu. Response Tracker and Message Scheduler had no working part and were removed.

Improved: Settings that only show what works. The New Features page listed 127 switches, and only five of them changed anything. It now shows those five (gesture controls, VR / 360 mode, SponsorBlock, ad accelerator, scroll-wheel volume) with the scroll-wheel options. The Netflix switches are in the Netflix section, as before.

Improved: keyboard shortcuts that all do something. 64 shortcut entries that had no effect were removed from Settings. That frees their keys. The mini-mode key and the Player Overlay display option also did nothing and are gone, and the shortcut group that was titled "v10 Features" is now called Bookmarks.
Ctrl + Alt + F
now opens and closes the filters tab, and
Ctrl + Alt + O
adds a bookmark at the current moment.

New: info button on two more LinkedIn panels. The post performance overlay and the quick preview card now carry the same info button as the other panels, and it explains what the panel is and how to use it.

Improved: descriptions that match the extension. The website, its license catalog and the store listings named tools that are not in the extension yet. They now list only what you can use today, with the real shortcut keys and the features that need a sign-in.

When the extension clears Netflix's 'device isn't part of the Netflix Household' screen, Netflix hides its own player controls.

When the extension clears Netflix's "device isn't part of the Netflix Household" screen, Netflix hides its own player controls, so keyboard controls now take over in that case. Every keyboard shortcut can be changed. A key can belong to only one shortcut, and your shortcuts follow you when you are signed in.

New: Netflix recovery controls. After the extension clears the Household screen, Netflix keeps its player controls hidden. Only then, keyboard controls switch on:
Space
to play or pause,
←
/
→
for 10 seconds,
Shift + ←
/
Shift + →
for 1 minute,
Ctrl + ←
/
Ctrl + →
for 5 minutes,
Ctrl + 0
to
Ctrl + 9
to jump to the start or 10% to 90%,
Ctrl + -
to jump to 1 minute before the end,
V
for subtitles,
B
for the audio track, plus volume, mute and fullscreen. A small notice on the player tells you they are on and links to the full list.

New: change any shortcut, one key per action. Every shortcut, including the new Netflix ones, can be given another key in Settings, on the Keyboard Shortcuts tab. If the key you pick already belongs to another shortcut, you are told which one, with a link that takes you to it.

New: shortcuts follow you when signed in. Your key bindings are saved in this browser and, while you are signed in, to your account, so another device picks them up the next time you open Settings on it.

Fixed: announcements that never appeared. Four places where the Video Controls Plus team can post announcements (the Settings banner, the popup card, the one-time card and the opt-in notification) were showing nothing. They work now. Each one reads at most 20 entries.

The team's other apps get a permanent home in Settings, and the promotional panel comes off the top of every Settings page.

The team's other apps get a permanent home in Settings, and the promotional panel comes off the top of every Settings page, so only one banner can sit above your settings.

New: "More from the developer" tab. Settings has a new tab that collects the team's other apps in one place, with a logo, a short description and a link for each. Until now the list appeared only as one step of the welcome page, so skipping setup meant losing it. The list is bundled with the extension, and nothing is fetched to show it. Opening a product is not tracked.

New: "More apps" in the popup. A link at the bottom of the popup opens that tab directly.

Improved: a calmer Settings page. The promotional panel that sat above every Settings page moved into the new tab, so Settings opens to your settings. A banner that does appear there stands down while the "finish your setup" reminder is showing, so two are never stacked.

Improved: clearer store listings. The Chrome, Edge and Firefox listings now describe which parts of the extension link to the team's other apps, and the Chrome "contains ads" question is answered: self-promotion only, with no ad network, ad SDK or tracking involved.

AI features arrive (video summaries and LinkedIn writing help), playback controls reach videos embedded on other sites.

AI features arrive (video summaries and LinkedIn writing help), playback controls reach videos embedded on other sites, and every Netflix extra becomes opt-in.

New: AI features. A new AI Features tab lets you summarize videos and get LinkedIn writing help. Use a small daily allowance after you sign in, bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, or run a local model. Every AI feature falls back to the built-in generators when AI is not available.

New: controls for embedded videos. Floating controls, keyboard shortcuts and right-click actions now work on videos embedded in other websites, like YouTube or Vimeo players inside articles and courses. The extension loads into an embedded frame only when it contains a video.

Improved: Netflix features are opt-in. Netflix extras are off by default, and you turn on the ones you want in Settings, on the Netflix Features tab. Existing setups were reset once. That way everyone starts from the same place.

Improved: accurate Netflix watch-time and limits. Watch-time tracking and viewing limits now count only while a video is playing in a visible tab, so a background tab does not use up your daily limit.

Fixed: per-site pause stays on this device. The list of sites you paused the extension on no longer syncs across devices.
